Why Catholic?

A series of 6 weekly gatherings during Lent. Pick the day and time that works for you and join fellow parishioners to meet in small faith-sharing groups and explore this year’s theme: Prayer. Come to grow in your faith, share with your community, and learn as your children are learning. Register here or call 781-899-2611.

Reconciliation Opportunities During Lent

“The Light Is On For You” Wednesdays during Lent (except Ash Wednesday), 6:30 to 8PM at both churches. There will be opportunity for Reconciliation during class times for most Religious Education students.

Taize Prayer

Everyone is invited to come and experience a Lenten series of evening prayer in the style of Taizé on Tuesdays during Lent. Taizé is a form of contemplative prayer that combines simple music, silence, and meditative prayer, based on the model set by the Taizé Community, founded in 1940 in southeastern France. We’ll meet on Tuesdays at 7:30pm alternately at our two churches – starting at St. Joseph church on February 28. For more information, click here.

Operation Rice Bowl

Bring home an old-fashioned paper rice bowl, put it in a conspicuous place to fill with money during lent! Bring your rice bowl back on Palm Sunday, April 1st, and you will be making a concrete contribution to the good work of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) around the world. Not many of us will ever be able to travel out to the parts of the world that desperately need food and medical help, but we are able to stock the bags of those who go and bring the support and relief that so many people need. CRS is rated A+ by the American Institute of Philanthropy.

Lenten Prayer Circle

A prayer circle of friends, where every day during lent, someone prays for the needs of others, and no one’s intention is excluded. Would you like to be part of our parish Lenten Prayer Circle? Contact Alpheen Menachery, or fill out the intention sheet located either of our churches. Pick a day to pray or jot down your prayer request.

Daily Lenten Prayer Booklets Available

Feel free to pick up a copy of Turning Stones into Gems or Lent for Kids booklet, Welcome Jesus. Each is available at both of our churches. Take one home for the family or share one with a friend. The 5-minutes investment each day can be like a compass during this year’s journey of Lent.

Stations of the Cross

Feel free to stop by St. Joseph Church to pray the stations anytime during lent. We will gather as a community for Stations on Good Friday, April 6 at 12 noon at St. Julia Church and 3PM at St. Joseph Church.

Praying Ten Minutes a Day: A Concord Pastor

Fr. Austin Fleming writes a daily commentary on life and ministry in his parish, the Church and in the world around us. During Lent, he offers “Praying 10 minutes a Day.” Monday mornings, there is a special Morning Offering. You can read Fr. Fleming at his site or have the daily reflection sent direct to your e-mail address. A Concord Pastor
