Youth Ministry
Over the last ten years, the Youth Ministry program at St. Julia Parish has grown
and developed based on the needs and makeup of the youth community. The St. Julia
Youth Ministry (SJYM) program strives to offer quality activities and events
for youth in grades 6-12. SJYM provides faith formation, social activities,
retreats and service projects, as well as leadership training and formation.
The mission of our program is to help nurture the faith development of our adolescent
and teenage youth, as they live with their families as part of the larger family
we call Church. To that end, SJYM is TO, WITH, BY and FOR the youth of
St. Julia Parish.
Under the direction of our Youth Ministry Coordinator, Jean Pelletier, SJYM
seeks to draw young people to responsible participation in life experiences in their
community and in their world at large. A working group of adult members, the
Youth Ministry Commission,
meets on a monthly basis to develop, plan and promote youth activities. We are always
looking for both adult and youth members to join us - this ministry is truly an
exciting foundation-building effort, crucial to the future of the Church. If you would like
to join us, please contact
Marcia Cormay, Chairperson, or
Jean Pelletier, 781-899-0739,
St. Julia Youth Ministry Coordinator.

The SJYM Activities Calendar lists upcoming service, social and liturgical events for all 6th - 12th graders. Recent service activities have included preparing Thanksgiving and Easter Baskets for needy families in Waltham, participation in the Weston Crop Walk to benefit Church World Services, Nursing Home and Campion Center visitations, Faneuil Hall Gift Wrapping to benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless in Boston, and a parish-wide Book Drive to support PEN New England and Hands Across the Water.
Fun-filled social events include trips to Witches' Woods in October, Snow Tubing at Nashoba Valley, Bowling Night at Fairways Lanes, Movie Nights and Coffeehouse-style music jams at St. Julia Parish Center.
Summer events include Harbor Cruises, the Catholic Leadership Institute, Gospel Road Service retreat, and a CYO Golf Tournament. Please see the Activities Calendar for a list of upcoming events, or check the Youth Page Bulletin Board for event flyers! You can download the Permission Slip form for all SJYM events.
Youth Group
St. Julia Parish has an active youth group for 11th and 12th graders. We meet monthly on a Sunday evening in the SJYM Gathering Space in the lower level of the Parish Center. We organize activites for the youth of the parish, working closely with the Religious Education Office. Check out the Youth Page! The door is always open to new members. Looking for something to do on the weekends? Come join in the food, fun and fellowship. If you are currently an 11th or 12th grade student in the parish, or will be next year, and would like to join Youth Group, email us.
Youth Masses
During the year we have a series of Masses planned by the members of the Youth Group, with a particular focus on the interests and issues of high school youth. High School youths participate in various roles in these Masses, including singing/playing music, as lectors and Eucharistic Ministers.
