We always welcome new members to the commissions and councils of the parish. If you are interested in joining any of these groups, or wish more information about these groups, please email the chair person (click on the highlighted name).

Liturgy Commission

The mission of the Liturgy Commission is to help build the faith life of St. Julia Parish by serving as a resource for the Parish’s liturgical life. Our goal is to encourage and facilitate the full and active participation of the parish community as we worship together. This commission supports the work of the various liturgical ministries in the parish, and supports ongoing liturgical education and formation of its own members and the members of the parish at large. The Liturgy Commission works to facilitate dialogue and communication among various ministries, the pastor, staff and community regarding issues affecting the liturgy. The Liturgy commission meets monthly from September to June. Current members are: Karen Boyce, Janice Carroll Hammond, Nancy Juskin, Sylvia Kennedy, Anna Pollock, and Joseph Sheehan.

Youth Ministry Commission

The mission of the Youth Ministry Commission is to nurture the faith development of our adolescent youth, as they live with their families as part of the larger family we call Church. We appreciate that this is a time of growth, gifts and challenges, and that genuine faith must be profoundly social. This commission seeks to affirm, support, educate, and empower our young people in their maturing faith lives. We know that in an atmosphere that is welcoming, safe and comfortable, we all can experience the invitation to grow in greater wholeness as the People of God. The YM Commission meets monthly during the school year and sponsors several youth events during the year. Commission members are Beth Marsh Doyle, Mike Heinecke, Paul Karasch (chair), Greg Kee and Fr. Joseph Hennessey. Permission slips for participation in youth events are required and can be downloaded here.

Stewardship Commission

This commission seeks ways of involving all parishioners in the concept of stewardship – the giving of Time, Talent and Treasure to support the mission of our Parish. The Stewardship Commission meets monthly, usually at 6 PM, September through June. The members of this commission include Win Baylies (Chair), Chris Brandt, David Jones, Carol Ritter, Andrew Stenari and Ursula Nowak.

Adult Faith Formation

The Adult Faith Formation Commission is concerned with the ongoing faith life of adults, encouraging deeper faith formation with relevance to contemporary life. This commission brings to the parish a number of guest speakers and programs, “Coffee and Contemporary Catholicism” on selected Sunday mornings, and recently brought to the parish “The Catholicism Project”.  The AFF Commission has evening meetings, monthly, September to June. The members of this Commission include: Kelly Dunn (Chairperson), Michael Anderson,Tom Bell, Caroline Camerato, Joan Duffy, Kathleen Logan Prince, Dee Schwartz, Janet Wohlers and Father George Evans. Communications Commission

The purpose of this commission is to improve and enhance parish communications in order to inform and build community.  The commission recommended a new database system called Parish Soft which also includes a Religious Education registration module.  The commission brought parish-wide email capability through Constant Contact to increase outreach, and upgraded the parish web site once in 2004, and again in 2011.  The commission has ensured parish visibility in the traditional newspaper media, as well as ventured into social media – we are now on FaceBook as many other parishes have joined as well.  The “Comm Comm” also edits and produce the bi-annual parish newsletter, both print and on-line editions.  This group meets monthly, usually at 9:30 AM, from September to June. Members of this Commission include: Susan Bayard, Win Baylies, Ann Bere, Chantal Buchanan (Chair), Donna Dec, Margie Dermady, Kathy Dolan, Sr. Mary Ann Doyle, Fr. George Evans, Richard Golden, Janice Carroll Hammond, Betty Tylko.

Social Justice Commission

There are many ways in which the parishioners of St. Julia Parish embrace Christ’s call to serve. The Social Justice Commission serves as an umbrella for the many parish outreach projects, a clearing house for new service opportunities, and as a source of education and communication of our mission as Church to live up to our call to be ‘salt of the earth’. This group meets in the evenings, once per month, throughout the year. The members of the Social Justice Commission currently include: Sr. Mary Rita Grady (chair),  Pat Dacey, Susan Boak, Paul Karasch and Susan Bayard. New members are always welcome. Please contact the chair if you would like to join.   See the Social Justice Ministry page for more information on the various programs we offer.
