We are stewards of the gifts God has given us, and sharing them generously in ways small and large gives us the opportunity to use them for His work. Many parishioners contribute a range of skills and time commitments to make our parish flourish, enhancing our lives and connections with each other in the process. Please consider helping in some capacity for one of the needs expressed below, or any of the other activities described throughout our site.
Bereavement Support. Do you like doing online research? Help us learn what programs are available in the area of bereavement support? Call or email Susan Bayard, 781-642-1308, if you would like to be a part of the important early phase of a new initiative in our parish.
If you’ve had a relative or friend in the hospital or nursing facility you know how precious is the gift of communion brought by a pastoral visitor! We have a team of people who visit and bring the Eucharist to the residents of the nursing home and assisted living facilities in our parish. Particularly during the summer, we need more volunteers. Training and support will be provided. Visits are scheduled for Monday mornings (4th Monday of month) and Monday afternoons. Please email or call Susan Bayard at 781-642-1308 for more information.
Members of our parish visit and bring communion to residents at EPOCH nursing facility on Monday mornings, once a month. Other parishioners pray the rosary with a group of residents on Monday afternoons. Would you like to be part of this very rewarding outreach ministry on a Monday that is convenient for you? Call the parish office at 781-899-2611 for more information. Regular visitors and occasional visitors are always welcome.
Help with Parish Coffees. Cafe Julia is open from September through June after the 9AM Mass in the Parish Hall. Volunteers are needed to help set up, serve, and clean up after these events. These gatherings are a wonderful source of community and connection, and the work of the volunteers is greatly appreciated. At St. Joseph Church, coffees usually are held on the second or third Sunday in St. Joseph House after both Sunday Masses. Please contact Debbie Eappen if you can help in any way at St. Julia Church, or Marige Bursaw if you can help at St. Joseph Church.
Meals at Bristol Lodge. Two times each month, coordinated through a Sunday evening group and a Thursday evening group, meals are provided to the shelter by members of the parish. Volunteers are needed to cook a portion of the meal (salad, fruit, casserole or dessert prepared in your own home), or transport and serve the meal at the shelter. Typically cooks are called once every third or fourth month to help. If you are able to donate your time and/or talent for this activity, please contact Jackie Athas or Pat Dacey in Weston.
Friends In Need program. Prepare and deliver meal for a fellow parishioner in need, due to illness, family crisis, or injury. Contact Semima Karasch if you would like to add your name to the list of people she can call.
Each month there is both a food and clothing delivery made to Catholic Charities in Lowell, coordinated by Kathy Lane. Donations can be left in either of the churches for delivery by volunteers to Lowell. There are also collection bins for food, paper products and cleaning supplies for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in St. Joseph Church. Please watch the bulletin for announcements about specific items needed.
Watch the bulletin and the web site for collections of special items to help support winter clothing drives, the Christmas giving programs, and the Thanksgiving Baskets and Easter Basket projects.
Our new Baptism team would like to be able to present infants coming for initiation into the church with a white bib to wear during their Baptism. Presentation of this white garment has been a long-time custom that many of our Lincoln parishioners remember. It will be another symbol of the celebration of the newness of life in Baptism, and also a beautiful keepsake from the parish to a young family. Would you like to help make some of these bibs? Have you an experience in this area to share? Threads of Life Committee [TLC] will be a new ministry in our parish. Come help design the pattern, and use your creative gifts. Call Susan Bayard at 781-642-1308.
Seasonal Flower Arrangements for Christmas and Easter. Do you have an interest in flower arranging? St. Julia and St. Joseph Churches could use your time and talent to decorate the altars during these special times of our liturgical year. At St. Julia Church contact the parish office, and at St. Joseph Church contact Sylvia Kennedy.
Gardening. During the spring and summer seasons, St. Julia and St. Joseph Churches occassionally need volunteers to assist with gardening, perhaps planting flowers for First Communion or helping to mulch the beds and shrubs. We welcome any and all help in this effort to beautify our churches’ surroundings. Please contact Janice Carroll Hammond if you would like to join us.
Rides needed. We are in need of drivers to bring parishioners to Mass who would not otherwise be able to attend. Contact Father Evans for more information or to volunteer.
Our St. Vincent de Paul Food Supplement Program has been approved for membership in the Greater Boston Food Bank. We can now receive products at little or no cost, to be distributed to needy people monthly. Volunteer drivers are needed to pick up the food and deliver it to our distribution center at St. Joseph’s in Lincoln. This is an opportunity to make a once-a-month commitment to help feed the hungry. To participate, drivers are required to attend a brief introductory orientation at the GBFB facility in Boston. If you would like to sign up or learn more, please call the parish office at 781-899-2611 and leave your name and telephone number. A SVDP representative will return your call.
Campion Health Center. Campion Center, a health care and residence for Jesuits of New England, needs volunteers to assist the Activity Department with transportation of residents in wheelchairs, involvement with group programs, one on one visits with reading, letter writing, etc. Hours can be arranged to fit your schedule. Questions: contact Gail Murphy at 781-788-4788 or Meghan Farrell-Talmo at 781-788-4754.
General Clerical Help. If you have some time to share during regular office hours, we could use help with various clerical tasks from time to time, such as parish mailings. Please contact the Parish office.
Church Locking Committee for St. Julia Church.
We are in need of two volunteers to stop by to close the church on a weekday evening. This valuable service permits us to keep the church open in the late afternoon/early evenings. Please call the parish office.
Lectors are entrusted with the important task of making the word of God come alive in the weekend Masses and at other special liturgies during the year. We are always looking for new people to serve the parish community in this instrumental ministry. If you are interested or have any questions about this ministry, please contact the parish office.
